At the beginning, I want to introduce the logic of my design.Based on the New English Curriculum Standard, the Core Competence of English and the view of English Learning Activities. My design concludes five parts.First, what to teach. The theme areas of this unit include man and self ,man and society which focus on the natural ecology. From the vertical relation, the topic is about time and weather appear in Book 4 Unit 2&3 ,Book 6Unit 3, and some activities in Book5 U2&4,and the mode of transportation in Book7Unit2,the simple past tense in Book7 Unit3 ,it’s also make a foundation for Book 7 Unit4.From the horizontal relation ,there are six units in this text book. The topics start from Ss ’weekend activities in unit 2,it also paves a way for the discussion of unit 4. The topic of unit 3 is about holiday.With the unit and the same topic about holiday.I analyze all the texts and generalize three sub topics.Nice holiday,nice life.Each sub- topic will be learned with one integrated lesson, and all the lessons together contribute to the educational value of the whole unit.For this design, we will focus on lesson 3. This lesson is listening and speaking.It's a text about Amy’s winter holiday.The topic belongs to the man and society,and conveys a very important attitude to students:Make a well-planned holiday and enjoy our life.The structure of this lesson is from topic to details.And the language is simple past tense, which is not very difficult for students.Next, let's move to part two: Why to teach. In the context of establishing moral education,we know that“What are the common holiday activities?How can we share the holiday and make a well-planned holiday?Why was a bad day but also a good day?How to appreciate the beautiful scenery of our motherland?” Now,I want to talk about: Whom to teach.For knowledge, they have language about daily activities in Book5Unit2&4 and they know some activities about daily life. However, they still have some challenges.Most of students like the structure of the text, and their reading and writing abilities are to be improved in the future.So based on the detailed analysis of the teaching material and students, we can set the proper teaching objectives. That is part four where to go. Altogether, there are three levels of objectives to direct my teaching.1st of all, according to the English Curriculum Standard 2022, the final goal is to cultivate students core competencies. A unit is taken as a whole with a general objective.Then each lesson help fulfill part of the unit objective unitedly,coherently and increasingly.For this lesson, let's focus on the teaching objectives of lesson 3. After this lesson, students will be able to 1st, understand the general idea of the conversation.2nd, Act out the dialogue and know what is a well-planned holiday.3rd,Make a new dialogue or travel booklet and share it.These three objectives unitedly contribute to the Ss’development from low to higher cognitive levels.Among these objectives, The key point is to understand the general idea of the conversation. Use the sentence structure “Where, How, What”For difficult points, students can know the methods of recording their holiday andknow what is a well-planned holiday.
According to the objectives, I set three evaluations for this unit. 1st Lesson evaluations, it helps to effect student learning. 2nd Unit evaluation which includes formative and summative.3rd homework evaluation. I design atravel booklet for Ss which help Ss to get a clear idea about what did they learn and how did they perform.So how do I realize all in practice?Let's turn tothe part five:How to teach. The lesson can be divided into three parts: pre-listening, while-listening and post-listening. As for pre-listening, I design the following activities: Sing a song ,Let’s guessand Let’s review. This can create situations and arouse their life experience,also it can review the phrases of holiday.As for while-listening, I design seven activities:these activities will help to perceive the content of the text and develop the ability to obtain key information.Also,they will train their pronunciation and intonation and improve students’ cooperative and acting ability.As for the post-listening, I create five activities.They can help to train students' critical thinking ability,arouse their sense of making a well-planned holiday and lay a foundation for next class.Homework for this lesson. I design two types of homework. Need to do ,choose to do.Look at the blackboard.
